Putin Signs Order Mandating FSB Clearance

(MENAFN) Russian President Vladimir Putin enacted a new directive on Monday, mandating that all ships coming into Russia from international waters must receive authorization from the Federal Security Service (FSB).

This regulation now makes it compulsory for incoming vessels to gain “permission of the captain of the seaport, agreed upon with an official of the FSB.”

According to the document, which was released on the official governmental portal, these new provisions take effect immediately upon publication. No specific explanation was offered for the implementation of this directive.

Previously, regulations concerning the entry of foreign ships into Russian harbors were overseen by the Transport Ministry.

A state-run news agency, noted that distinct procedures were already in place for ships docking at ports situated near Russian naval facilities.
