US Navy Intercepts Crude Oil Tanker Bound for Iran—CENTCOM
CENTCOM said on the social media platform X that the guided-missile destroyer USS Rafael Peralta (DDG 115) carried out the interception as part of what it described as enforcement of a US blockade on Iranian ports. The statement claimed the tanker, identified as M/T Stream, had attempted to sail toward Iran when it was halted.
“The USS Rafael Peralta (DDG 115) enforces the U.S. blockade of Iranian ports against M/T Stream after it attempted to sail to an Iranian port,” CENTCOM said in its post.
The incident reportedly took place on Sunday, although no additional operational details were provided, including the exact location of the interception or how US forces determined the vessel’s intended destination.
Public maritime tracking data cited in reports indicates that the M/T Stream is a crude oil tanker.
