Vance Condemns “Reprehensible” San Diego Mosque Attack That Kills Three

(MENAFN) JD Vance has strongly condemned what he described as a “reprehensible” attack on a mosque in San Diego, California, which left three people dead.

Speaking to reporters at the White House, Vance said: "I don't know a single person who would say anything other than what I'm about to say, which is that that type of violence in the United States of America is reprehensible."

He called for national solidarity and prayers for the victims and those affected, adding:
"I encourage every single American to pray for everybody who was involved and affected by it. We don't want that to happen in our country, and may God rest the souls of the people who lost their lives."

Vance also shared a personal connection to the area, noting that his family has ties to the region near the Islamic Center of San Diego. He said his wife, Usha Vance, grew up locally and may have known individuals connected to the community center.

He explained: "I said, ‘You know, would you have known anybody who was like involved in this?’ And she said, ‘Absolutely, I would have known some people, or at least their parents, who might have actually used the services at this community center.’"

According to reports, three people, including a security guard, were killed in the attack on Monday. Law enforcement officials said two suspected teenage gunmen later died from self-inflicted gunshot wounds.

Authorities are investigating the incident as a possible hate crime, according to reports.
